NFL Wild-Card Weekend

It is finally the time that we have all been waiting for.  And no I am not referring to “Tebow Time,” though there is a possibility of some “Tebowing.”  America’s most popular sport is now down to the final 12.  By Sunday night, the field will be narrowed down to eight, as teams desperately try to book a trip to Indianapolis for the Super Bowl on February 5th.  What team will be hoisting the Lombardi Trophy around 10:30PM on February 5th?

I know you have all been anxiously awaiting the final “TheSportsKraze Pick’em Challenge” results.  The final standings were as follows:

TSK:  172

CV3:  163

CB:  161

DC: 158

(TSK is the champion for a second consecutive year)

Let’s take a deeper look at the upcoming weekend.

Wild-Card Weekend:

Cincinnati Bengals at Houston Texans

The Word:  A game of firsts.  Houston is in the playoffs for the first time in franchise history and Cincinnati has not won a postseason game since January 6th, of 1991. Continue reading

By Josh Kramer

The NFL season rolls on to Week 8.  Up to this point in the season, we have learned a lot.  The Packers are living up to all of the hype and more, appearing poised to repeat as Super Bowl Champions.  Teams like the San Francisco 49ers and the Cincinnati Bengals missed the memo and have decided to be contenders.  And people are finally starting to realize just how valuable Peyton Manning was to his team..  Football fans across the country are witnessing what the Colts are like without #18.

As has become the tradition, we are once again having “TheSportsKraze Pick’em Challenge.”

The participants this season are as follows:

Week 5 NFL Power Rankings

Photo courtesy of revitalizeyourchurch.blogspot.com. Aaron Rodgers (pictured above) has picked up right where he left off. Nobody is questioning the defending champs off-season workouts, or lackthereof anymore.

By Wesley Kaminsky

If you thought you had a grasp on the 2011 NFL season than you were surely mistaken. The madness is just beginning. Week four was highlighted by two teams, the Eagles and the Cowboys staging second half collapses. Which collapse was worse?

The Cowboys led 27-3 over the Lions, while the Eagles led 23-3 over the 49ers. Now, both teams are searching for answers, and the pressure is on. The “Dream Team” as Vince Young proclaimed isn’t looking so dreamy after all. What happened to that revamped defense? People all over Philadelphia have grown more and more tired of Andy Reid every year, and this year may be the tipping point.

Should the Cowboys hit the panic button? After Tony Romo handed the game away to the Jets in week one, he had back to back gutsy performance to ease the pressure off of him. That pressure is back now, and it’s greater than ever after Romo threw three second half interceptions, with two of them going for touchdowns.

Without further ado, here are the power rankings for week five. It’s not pretty, Eagles fans. Continue reading

NFL Week 2 Predictions

I know you all thoroughly enjoyed Week 1 of the NFL season.  It lived up to all of the hype and more.  A shootout in the opener.  Cam Newton setting a rookie record for passing yards in his debut.  Tom Brady throwing for the 5th most yards ever in an NFL game (517 yard).  And more Tim Tebow controversy.  I must say, it is great to have America’s most popular sports league back.

As has become the tradition, we are once again having “TheSportsKraze Pick’em Challenge.”

The participants this season are as follows:

Week 2 NFL Power Rankings

Photo courtesy of playqb.com. Tom Brady (pictured above) stole the show in the opening weekend by topping the 500 yard passing mark.

By Wesley Kaminsky

24-37, 422 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. You know who’s stat line that was in week one? Not Aaron Rodgers, not Drew Brees, and not Tom Brady’s. It was Cam Newton’s, who started his career off with a bang.

Would Newton steal the show in week one? Think again. Tom Brady had different plans on Monday Night Football as he threw for an astounding 517 yards in Miami. Yeah, you read that correctly.

That’s just the kind of week it was in week one, full of surprises. Playoff teams such as the Steelers, Chiefs, and Falcons got rocked opening weekend, while the Bills and Lions won on the road. It was a weird week in the NFL, and here is the good news, we are just getting started. Continue reading

“NFL Conference Championship Outlook”

Packer's Cornerback, #38 Tramon Williams (pictured above) has been outstanding all year long, and especially in the playoffs. With 3 interceptions in the postseason already, look for him to add to that total on Sunday.

We are getting closer to Dallas people.  To be exact, we are just over 2 weeks away from the big game.  The NFL is America’s most popular professional sport.  And the Super Bowl is the culminating event.  It has been another phenomenal year full of stellar on the field play, injuries, on/off the field issues, #4 shenanigans, and upsets galore.  Plus there is the looming issue with the CBA (Collective Bargaining Agreement).

Well now we are down to the NFL’s version of the Final Four.  We have already heard our very own Wesley Kaminsky’s outlook for the two Conference Championship Games.  Now it is my turn. Continue reading
