The most recent edition of March Madness was one for the ages. It was a tournament that kept fans on the edge of their seats from Day 1 all the way to the National Championship Game. And as is typically the case regarding college hoops, the season has started without a bang.
How many of you are aware that real regular season college hoops has been played? Unless your respective team has opened up the season, I am guessing that this is news to you. Why does college basketball always start at such a weird time, amid such a lack of publicity? Nobody knows, but things will heat up. That is a promise.
With all of the insanity going on in sports at the moment, college hoops may be a good release. Either way, as is always the case, come mid-January, college basketball will be at the center of the sporting stratosphere.
Here is my top five: Continue reading

As you’ve probably heard, the 2011 NBA draft is shaping up to be one of the weakest in years.
Rumor has it that one of the possible taglines the NBA league office considered to promote the event was: NBA draft 2011…where underwhelming talent happens.
In fact, if we likened all the hopeful hoopers waiting to hear their name called at the Prudential Center in friendly Newark, N.J. — Madison Square Garden is unavailable to serve as the venue this year because of scheduled renovations — to popsicles, then all the NBA teams have a disappointing box full of grape-flavored popsicles to select from (maybe there’s an orange or raspberry hidden somewhere in the box).
Just as any sane person should consciously avoid grape popsicles (I don’t care how hot it gets, I won’t settle for grape), if I’m an NBA GM, I’m avoiding taking these prospects: Continue reading

I fully expect a thriller in the West Regional Final matchup between Arizona and Connecticut later today. But the X-Factor, and reason why the Huskies will win is the phenomenal play as of late by UConn super freshman, Jeremy Lamb (pictured above).
So my bracket has finally exploded over the past 2 nights. I was doing pretty well through the first weekend. But with 2 of my Final Four teams going down(Wisconsin, Ohio State), I am now in the same boat as the majority of America. I guess I can thank the Big Ten for ruining my bracket. Either way, it has been an unbelievable tournament with phenomenal finishes thus far. Last night’s late games were 2 of the best games I have seen all year. Continue reading
